Lake Otis Parkway Surface Rehabilitation: 68th Ave to Abbott Rd A Municipality of Anchorage Project (Project No. 20-019)

Lake Otis Pkwy Surface Rehabilitation: 68th Ave to Abbott Rd

The Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) is planning to repave the approximate 1.5 mile segment of Lake Otis Parkway between 68th Avenue and Abbott Road. (This is a separate project from the Lake Otis Parkway project between Abbott Road and Huffman Road). The project is currently funded with Municipal bonds.

Project Description:

This project will rehabilitate the pavement along Lake Otis Parkway between 68th Avenue and Abbott Road. The corridor was constructed in its current configuration in the early 1990s and last repaved in 2008. The pavement surface has significant rutting, the majority of the curb ramps and driveways do not meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and some retaining walls along the corridor are showing signs of failure. The purpose of this project is to improve roadway drivability and upgrade pedestrian facilities to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

The project includes:

  • Repaving Lake Otis Parkway
  • Spot dig-outs (where the subsurface below the pavement is replaced)
  • Evaluating traffic signals for flashing yellow arrow conversion
  • Spot storm drain rehabilitation
  • Curb ramp replacements and sidewalk repairs to meet ADA

The project is currently funded with Municipal bonds.
